60+ ICE CREAM PRODUCTS RECALLED DUE TO POSSIBLE LISTERIA RISK, INCLUDING JENI'S & FRIENDLY'S
Do not eat these products if you’ve got them in your freezer!
The U.S. Food & Drug Administration issued a recall on Totally Cool, Inc. ice cream products due to the risk of the products being contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The contamination was found during an FDA sampling.
Totally Cool, Inc. makes and distributes ice cream products for many brands, including Friendly’s, Hershey’s Ice Cream, Jeni’s and Cumberland Farms (see full list below). The affected products were distributed nationwide. The company has ceased production and distribution of the affected products and continues its investigation into the cause of the contamination.
Listeria is a bacteria that can be potentially fatal, especially in young children, frail or elderly people and people with weakened immune systems. Signs of listeria infection include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. No illnesses have been reported to date.
