BBC BREAKFAST HOST SALLY NUGENT MISSING FROM SHOW FOR SECOND DAY IN A ROW

BBC Breakfast presenter Sally Nugent has been absent from the show twice this week, with her co-host Jon Kay having been joined by one of their colleagues instead.

The journalist, 52, typically fronts the BBC show with Jon, 54, from Monday to Wednesday each week. Charlie Stayt, 62, and Naga Munchetty, 49, usually then present together for the rest of the week, as well as on Saturday mornings.

The show also has several stand-in presenters and Sally - who has been a host on BBC Breakfast since 2021 - has been covered by one of them this week. She was absent from Monday's episode and she didn't return on Tuesday.

She was covered by colleague Sarah Campbell - who also works on BBC News - in both episodes. Sarah appeared on the red sofa beside co-host Jon, whom she has worked alongside previously, on Monday and Tuesday this week.

Sarah was met with compliments from viewers over her appearance in the most recent episode, in which she opted to wear a white dress. Fans reacted to her fronting the BBC show on X, formerly known as Twitter, in the morning.

One person tweeted: "Great see you on the red sofa this morning & looking totally fab this morning also - love the dress - very summery!" Another viewer commented in a post: "Good morning Sarah love the outfit this morning."

Sharing their thoughts, someone else said: "Good morning Sarah, fantastic to see you back on the Salford sofa, the perfect tonic up here on Tyneside." They concluded by telling the presenter: "Enjoy another glorious summer's day."

Sarah is understood to have co-hosted BBC Breakfast alongside Jon on Tuesday last week too. Sally however was on the show on Monday and Wednesday last week, as usual, prior to her absence from the presenting line-up this week.

She appeared in a pre-recorded interview with the late Rob Burrow's wife Lindsey Burrow later in the week. It came following the news that rugby player Rob, who had raised awareness around motor neurone disease (MND) following his diagnosis, had passed away, aged 41, earlier this month.

The recent interview with his widow Lindsey, in which she discussed her late husband, their relationship and their family, aired on Friday morning last week. BBC Breakfast presenter Sally, who knew Rob and is said to have become friends with his family, had promoted the segment on her X account the previous day.

BBC Breakfast airs each days at 6am on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. The latest episode is available through the streaming platform for a limited time.
